Ana Barbić Katičić designed the “FIFA THE BEST FOOTBALL AWARDS” trophy, which was awarded for the first time on 9th January 2017. in Zurich. This prestigious trophy is the result of collaboration with the legendary Zvonimir Boban, who initiated the project.
The design of the trophy is based on respect for the tradition of football and the identity of FIFA. The shape of the trophy is reminiscent of the iconic FIFA World Cup logo, and the ball on top symbolizes the history of football, specifically the final of the first World Cup between Uruguay and Argentina in 1930. year.
The trophy is made with cutting-edge technology, including elements used in the aerospace industry and Formula 1. It weighs 6.4 kilograms and consists of five parts: the lower part, the base, the carbon part, the body and the ball on top.
Ana Barbić Katičić was guided by the principles of simplicity and minimalism, believing that they best reflect the true values of the World Football Federation. The trophy combines classic conventions with a modern approach, creating a postmodern object that celebrates the history of football and its future.
