Biography

Ana Barbić Katičić, academic painter

was born on February 20, 1971. in Zagreb. After graduating in law from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in 1995., she decided to follow her passion for art and graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2002, in the class of Professor Igor Rončević. She is a member of the Croatian Society of Fine Artists (HDLU) and the Croatian Association of Independent Artists (HZSU).

Her artistic oeuvre encompasses a wide range of media and techniques, including painting, illustration, interior design, furniture design, sculpture and lighting. She is the co-founder of the Niana Painted Furniture atelier, which specializes in the artistic transformation of furniture and interiors. Ana has held more than 20 solo exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, including Finland, France, Belgium and Israel. Her works can be seen in permanent collections of museums, such as the Krapina Neanderthal Museum in Krapina and the Oluja ’95 Museum in Knin.

One of the highlights of her career was designing the trophy for FIFA’s “The Best FIFA Football Awards.” Ana designed the trophy that FIFA has awarded every year since 9. 1. 2017. when it was first awarded in Zurich. The design elements connect the history of football and its future, emphasizing the continuity of the game, passion and excellence in football.

Ana Barbić Katičić continues to explore the boundaries of her creativity, merging tradition and modernity in her works. Her work reflects a personal philosophy that every painting, every brushstroke, can be transformed into an opportunity for growth, learning, and expression.

Works in space

In 2009, she painted a series of murals at the Krapina Neanderthal Museum in Krapina, as part of the museum’s permanent exhibition. In 2015, she painted a mural titled “Glory of Victory” at the Oluja 95 Museum, in the Knin Museum in Knin, also as part of the permanent exhibition.

Awards

In 2006, she won the second prize at the DAAK exhibition at the Koprivnica City Museum. In 2017, she designed the trophy for The Best FIFA Football Awards, an annual award for the best achievements in world football, which has been awarded since that year onwards.
